
Waterville Central School District announced its Class of 2024 Top 10 academic students.
Logan Baker is this year’s valedictorian. He is the son of Scott and Kristen Baker of Waterville.
Hanley Poyer is this year’s salutatorian.
She is the daughter of David and Jessica Poyer of Deansboro.
The rankings for the senior class were announced at a reception at the High School last week.
Other students in the Top 10, and their rank:
Annabella Jayson, 3rd; Ella Briggs, 4th; Whitney Oliver, 5th; Garent Acker, 6th; Nathan Pryputniewicz, 7th; Adriana Snow, 8th; Adrienne Neff, 9th; and Lauren Pedersen, 10th.
Baker has been involved in a number of activities as a student at WCS.
He has been chosen a Youth of the Month by the Brothertown Optimist
Club, is an officer in Student Council, class officer and National Honor Society.
He has participated in athletics as a state Scholar Athlete, notably in cross country and indoor/outdoor track, where he has qualified for sectionals and state meets.
Baker plans to attend SUNY Geneseo where he will be a member of the Knights running teams.
Poyer has also been involved in a number of student activities, including both the WCS Student Council and the state organization for Student Councils, where this year she was co-president.
Poyer has been chosen as a Youth of the Month by the Brothertown Optimist Club. Last year she represented the club at the national oratorial contest in St. Louis.
Poyer has participated on numerous athletic teams as a state Scholar Athlete.
Her college plans have yet to be determined. ...
