Temperatures this year provided good weather for providing top quality maple syrup and during the recent Maple Weekends. People enjoyed tasting the result at Ben and Judy’s Sugarhouse in West Edmeston. Plenty of pancakes hit the griddle over four days of open houses and tours, plus breakfast served with plenty of maple syrup grown on the property. The slogan at Ben and Judy’s was Peace, Love and Pancakes. New York state has about 2,000 maple sugarmakers and produced 845,000 gallons last year. More photos, Page 8.
