Waterville and Clinton High Schools earned championship titles last Saturday at two sports events. Waterville cross country runner Danny Casatelli finished first out of 187 runners in the Section Three Class D boys cross country race at Mount Markham High School with a time of 15:47, second overall of 545 boys who competed in Section Three’s four classes. Casatelli returns for his second appeareance at the state meet Saturday at Queensbury High School near Glens Falls. Clinton field hockey continues its remarkable season by playing for a state championship this weekend for the first time in 26 years. The Comets beat Akron and East Rochester last week to win the Far West Regional title. Clinton plays Saturday vs. Rondout Valley and with a win, Sunday for the Class C title.
