Clinton Considers Increase In Sewer, Water Charges

The Village of Clinton Board met Tuesday night to discuss new business.


The Board approved a resolution approving the August minutes.


The Board approved a resolution authorizing the payment of vouchers.


The Finance Committee discussed increasing the Water/Sewer rate $1 each, representing the first increase since 2019.


Village of Clinton Mayor Elizabeth Tantillo said the Village is cleaning its six water wells next year and each will cost $70,000.


The increase in the Water/Sewer rate will help offset the expense.


Tantillo said covering the total cost of the cleaning with a rate increase would be $4 each.


Bond payments were made in August and no budget modifications are recommended for September.


A public hearing is scheduled for Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. to discuss the increase in rates.


The Board approved a resolution approving the Department reports.


Trustee Tom Firsching asked DPW Supervisor Rob Rockwell about any staffing issues.


Rockwell said the department is understaffed with three full-time employees but the Department is doing good with what they've got.


Rockwell discussed planning to remove some trees around the Village and some new trees would be planted in the Fall.


Tantillo said Home and Community Renewal award letters were issued, funding four DRI projects from the small-projects fund.


Lewiston Apartments received funding for a new 50-unit affordable housing project.


Tantillo said the Village and Clinton Kirkland Improvement Corporation are co-sponsoring the projects. ...
