Clinton Reviews Goals

The Clinton Central Schools Board of Education met Tuesday evening to discuss new business.


The meeting began with a Meet and Greet for recently hired employees before the Audit Report from Nicole Chubbuck of D'Arcangelo and Co., LLP.


Business Administrator Ethan Martin gave a quick overview of the audit process and the New York State law requiring Districts to audit.


Chubbuck reported CCSD received an unmodified opinion with no new findings or recommendation.


One previous recommendation was repeated.


Chubbuck shared the statement of net position with CCSD holding a total net position of $24,716,762.


There were no material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, or instances of noncompliance found with CCSD named a low-risk auditee.


CCS Superintendent Chris Clancy gave the Superintendent's Report by

introducing newly hired staff members Taylor Bushey, Kathleen Karin, Holly Mueller, Esmeralda Sabanagic, and Lucas Rivera.


School Board Recognition Week is Oct. 14-18. Clancy thanked the BOE for their service to CCS students.


Clancy spoke about the Blue Ribbon Commission Forum. The Forum discussed four transformations on the topics of the New York State Portrait of a Graduate, Redefine Credits, Sunset Diploma Assessment Requirements, and Move to One Diploma.


Clancy then discussed the Capital Project with the back alley drainage project beginning, the multipurpose turf field construction beginning as well, the elementary library demolition, and the work starting on the Track & Field section for the pole vault, long jump, and shot put.


Clancy led a discussion with the Board about the CCS Girls Ice Hockey program. For the first time, other school districts playing through Clinton will be required to contribute towards paying the costs on a per student- athlete basis.


CCS BOE President Melinda Leising asked about the size of last year's team and ratio of CCS students.


Boardmember Sam Catterson said, "This is a necessary next step because the program shouldn't cost our taxpayers extra money."


Boardmember Erica Shaw said, "This is the best way to maintain the sustainability of the program."


Clancy discussed the 2024-25 District Goals.


The CCSD District Goal one is to Increase participation in school community events by 20% through targeted outreach and engagement strategies.


Goal two is to Provide Social-emotional support and implement a social- emotional behavioral screener by the end of the first semester and provide targeted interventions and support for identified ...
