Clinton’s July 4th Parade Affected By This Summer’s Road Construction

The Town of Kirkland Board met Monday evening to discuss new business.

Sharleen Machold said the Kirkland Senior Center held their annual banquet April 15.

An AARP Defensive Driving Course is scheduled for May 7 for anyone interested from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

A May 17 event is a lunch and play at Theodore's in Canastota.

Mike Debraggio said CKIC issued a call for proposals for money from the DRI Small Project Fund.

The Board approved a resolution accepting the March 24 meeting minutes.

The Board approved a resolution approving the Town of Kirkland Green Waste Facility Contractor Dumping Agreement.

The Board approved a resolution authorizing Town of Kirkland Supervisor Bob Meelan to auction Kirkland Police Department car 567.

The Board approved a resolution to approve the 2025-26 Agreement to Provide Emergency Medical Treatment for dogs and cats.

Meelan led a discussion about Fourth of July celebrations being limited because of the condition of College Street and the cost of fireworks.

He said there might not be able to be a parade or event on the Village Green this year.

Events for the Fourth of July are put on by the town.

Also possibly hampering this year’s festivities is a Capital Project at Clinton Central School, where people sit to observe the fireworks, that will replace the athletic fields.

Roadwork will go from College Hill to LutheranCares primarily this summer, tearing up the road and replacing sidewalks and making other major changes that will result in detours and limited lane usage and parking options.

The Board approved a resolution auditing the payment of bills.

The next Town of Kirkland Board meeting is scheduled for April 28 at 5 p.m.
