The Town of Columbia will have a new supervisor Jan. 1.
Challenger Nathan Seamon, who leads the Protect Columbia community group opposing the large commercial solar panel project proposed in Columbia, beat incumbent Supervisor George Weiss in last week’s election.
Seamon had earlier beaten Weiss for the Republican line and received 316 votes. Weiss, on an independent line, received 75 votes.
“This was an election about change - and in particular about changing the culture of the town government and how it functions and interacts with the residents,’’ Seamon said.
“This required a change in leadership, along with other personnel,” Seamon said “I'm ready to work with the existing town government personnel and welcome the challenge and the learning curve ahead. Thank you to those who came out to support this effort by voting.’’
