Food Co-op Update

The Village of West Winfield Board met Monday evening to discuss new business.


The Board accepted the Treasurer's Report which said the annual financial report was filed, the Williamson installation of the Accounting and Budget was done Aug. 6, and the NYCOM-ARPA webinar was attended and funds received.


The first Financial Report is due Oct. 31.


Representatives of the 4-Corners Food Co-Op spoke with the Board to share their mission and requests. Since the loss of the Great American, the 4-Corners Food Co-Op is finding a new way to bring fresh groceries and vendors to the community.


4-Corners Boardmembers Renee Winne and Kari Thomson described the Co-Op's need for community support through membership. They provided several advantages a Co-Op would provide over a national grocery chain, including how the community controls the store's hours and the financial reinvestment into the community from the Co-Op.


Supplies will be locally-sourced and other needed products will be purchased as necessary. The Co-Op will be open to everyone in the community, but…
