Literacy Event Sunday

The Literacy and Career Extravaganza, sponsored by the Community Literacy Partnership, will be Sunday, Nov. 17 at Richfield Springs Central School.

The Community Literacy Partnership was formed by the Richfield Springs Central School District.

Its mission is: “To promote a love of literacy in families and children within our community to develop an early foundation focused on reading, language development and listening skills. Accessibility to engaging activities and resources will inspire our community to unite, and support, the early education of our children.”

The theme of the Extravaganza is Discover the Magic Within You!

It has a variety of offerings.

The schedule is as follows:

12:30 to 12:50 p.m.: Pick up your Passport, map of presenters, a coupon for a free book at the Scholastic Book Fair and then check out the prizes.

1 to 1:30 p.m.: Magic Show

1:35 to 3:10 p.m.: Visit four 20-minute interactive presentations of your choice.

What do you want to be when you grow up? Twelve area professionals will give you an insight into their careers and provide activities about their work.

3:15 to 3:30 p.m.: After visiting four different interactive career presentations, take your completed passport with four stamps to the exit, and place it in the prize drawing container for the prize drawings.

When your name is drawn, choose which prize you would like.

3:30 p.m.: Drawings begin.

3:30 to 4:30 p.m.: Scholastic Book Fair, Elementary Library; get a free book of your choice.
