Memorial Day Parades, Events

Memorial Day will feature a number of activities to honor deceased veterans.


This year’s local parade will be in Cedarville starting at 11 a.m. The Memorial service ceremony by the West Winfield Legion and VFW in the Cedarville Cemetery will follow the parade.


In the Town of Brookfield the Johnson-Rogers American Legion in Brookfield will lead graveside ceremonies in Unadilla Forks at 8:30, Leonardsville 9, South Brookfield 9:30, North Brookfield 10 and then kick off the parade in Brookfield at 11.


In Richfield Springs the poppy distribution is May 26 and 27 at the Post Office, Stewarts, the dump and Dollar Store.


On Memorial Day the parade begins in Schuyler Lake at 9 a.m. and in then Richfield Springs at 10 a.m.


The program in Richfield Springs includes Fill The Hill with flags (Rescue Dog, Rescue Soldier Sanctuary) in Memorial Park. Richfield Springs graduate and recent Siena College graduate Victor Gelfuso is the guest speaker.


The Sons of American Legion barbecue at the Legion Post on Lake Street begins at 11 a.m. A raffle and drawing will be that day.
