Mt. Markham Superintendent Takes New Job

The New Hartford Central School District Board of Education announced the appointment of Joseph D’Apice as the District’s new superintendent of schools and the temporary appointment of Joseph Barretta as the District’s acting superintendent during a Feb. 5 special meeting.


Barretta, who is the District’s Assistant Superintendent for Business Affairs, will serve as the acting superintendent of schools from March 5 through April 27 following the retirement of Superintendent of Schools Dr. Cosimo Tangorra Jr.


D’Apice will tentatively begin duties as superintendent for the New Hartford Central School District April 28.


D’Apice became superintendent of Mount Markham in the summer of 2020.


He came from the Richfield Springs Central School District, where he had been principal for seven years.
