A Mount Markham High School student will participate on the state’s Student Athletic Advisory Committee.
Senior Jenna Kocienda is one of five students represending the Center State Conference.
The others are from Frankfort-Schuyler, Oriskany, Hamilton and Alexis Wolfe from Cooperstown, who plays on the Mount Markham varsity field hockey team.
According to the state Student Athlete Association, the goal is to dedicate efforts to promote safety, sportsmanship, leadership (in the classroom and athletic arena), and positive relationships with coaches, administrators and other student-athletes.
The Committee works to represent the perspective of all NYSPHSAA student- athletes by presenting their concerns to the NYSPHSAA.
Student athletes will suggest solutions to those concerns.
During the school year, the committee will discuss topics relevant to high school student-athletes and develop ways to maintain a positive athletic experience.
