OFFD Buys New Vehicle

At the November meeting of the Oriskany Falls Village Board, Oriskany Falls Fire Department Fire Commissioners Russ Petrie and Jim Dowd discussed their request of purchasing a new pickup truck.


Board members approved buying a 2023 Ford F-350 pickup truck for the Fire Department with the Fire Department reserve funds not to exceed $78,500.


A permissive referendum will be advertised for 30 days.


The Fire Department will contribute $30,000 towards the purchase and they are going to sell the Suburban.


Board members approved payment to Hutchings Tree Service in the amount of $19,800, All Season in the amount of $75 and Apex Document Solutions in the amount of $40.78.


It was reported the fifth Community Development Block Grant project was completed.


Other projects are waiting on supplies to be completed in the spring.


Augusta Town Supervisor Suzanne Collins submitted a letter stating the Town will be out of the building by Dec.


She thanked the Village for their hospitality over the years.


The lease agreement for Hillside Cemetery Association at $3,600 a year for the back office was approved.


At the December meeting, Oriskany Falls Fire Chief Russ Petrie asked about the possibility of the Village adopting a local law to give an exemption to active firemen’s property tax of 10%.


Clerk Amber Bell said she would look up the impact to provide at the January meeting.


WWTP Operator/Superintendent Geoffrey Stevens said the quote on file is no longer needed to repair the Maple Avenue pump, as it was still under warranty and was replaced.


At a previous meeting Mr. Buschmann discussed having the Village lease the Madison Street parking lot.


The Board would like to move forward with this idea. Mayor Steve Jeffers will be in contact with Mr. Buschman and Attorney William Getman.


Clerk Treasurer Bell looked into changing the Request For Proposal time period for Insurance.


The Village requests RFPs every year in the past, and the proposal was to extend to five years. Board members approved the request.


At the January meeting Board members discussed whether to reapply to the Rental CDBG Grant.


Thoma, the Village’s Grant writer consultant, stated that there is one property owner on a waiting list.


It would cost $7,500 to write the grant and we have $4,200 in retainer.


The Board decided to hold off for a couple years and focus on infrastructure grants.
