Petitions Given To Kirkland Board

The Town of Kirkland Board met Wednesday evening to discuss new business.


The Board approved a resolution accepting the September meeting minutes.


Chris Abbe from the Clark Mills Fire Department presented signatures to the Board in support of changing French Road to the Clark Mills Fire District.


They will be seeking signatures from residents of other roads in the area.


Town of Kirkland Supervisor Bob Meelan thanked him providing the signatures.


Kirkland Trails President Chip Bassett invited everyone to attend the grand opening of the trail on Dugway Road Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m.


Director of the Kirkland Senior Center Sharlene Machold spoke to the Board about the Senior Center and the programs provided.


The Board approved a resolution approving the route of the 2024 Jingle Jog Saturday, Nov. 30 at 8 a.m.


Meelan said the preliminary budget will be available for review.


The Board held a brief discussion about the cost of public cemeteries being placed on Townships.


Several members of the public asked about the specifics surrounding the perpetual care funds associated with the cemeteries and the State laws designating the funds.
