Members of the Clinton community met Wednesday night in the Clinton Central School Library to discuss the Jack Boynton Community Pool property.
Sara Ziesenitz, president of the Clinton Youth Foundation that runs the pool, introduced herself and the rest of the Pool Board.
A minimum of $500,000 in repairs with costs likely exceeding $1,000,000 has led the Pool Board to the decision to close the Clinton Pool for next year.
Ziesenitz said grants are still being applied for, but with no member of the public volunteering to take over the project, the repairs won't be completed.
Several members of the Board plan to retire after numerous years volunteering and have said no others have come forward to fill the seats.
Refunds are being issued for swim lessons.
The pool needs to be resurfaced before next year and won't pass health inspection as is without major work.
The Pool Board thanked the community and the school district for the support.
The pool and clubhouse were built in 1957 on property owned by the Clinton Central School District.
The District and Town of Kirkland have said the cost of repairs, purchasing the pool and operating it would be too heavy a financial burden for them to take it over.
