Student Work-Learning Program Data Reviewed

The Mount Markham Central School District Board of Education met Tuesday evening to discuss new business.


The meeting began with a presentation from MMCSD High School Principal Victor Zampetti on the 2023 Data Review for Work based learning. The presentation covered the District’s Regents results compared with other schools in the BOCES District.


MMCSD finished first in Earth Science and U.S. History and Government in the Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES district.


MMCSD had a total of 59 enrollees in Advanced Placement classes. Ninety-three students earned a combined 759 college credits across 245 classes.


All but one student in the Class of 2023 Cohort graduated. Twenty-six graduates plan to attend a four-year college, 17 plan to attend a two-year college, two are joining the Armed Forces, and 23 are entering the workforce.


Zampetti gave a review of the Career Plan development process for students from ninth to twelfth grade and the Work Based Learning system offered to students.


The Board held a lengthy discussion about how to keep students honest about attending work-release when leaving for the school day.


The Board congratulated the Mount Markham FFA students for placing first at the Herkimer County Envirothon.


The Board then held a lengthy discussion about the School Hat Policy.


The Board approved a resolution approving the July 12 and July 19 Board of Education meeting minutes.


The Board approved a resolution accepting the recommended actions of the Internal Claims Auditor.


The Board approved a resolution updating the appointment of Kayleigh Osborn from long-term substitute teacher to Childhood Education Teacher in the Elementary Education area.


The Board approved a resolution appointing Madison Soucy as a Childhood Education Teacher in the Elementary Education area.
