About a year ago the Federated Church of West Winfield began giving away diapers to local families.
The idea came from It Takes A Village in Waterville, a mission of the Waterville Methodist Church.
Waterville’s volunteers suggested the Federated Church join them in the free distribution since so many West Winfield families were going to Waterville each month.
Heidi Barrette, who runs what has now grown into a Community Closet with clothing, formula, food and baby items, said it sounded like a needed benefit.
Pass It On, like in Waterville, hands out 40 diapers and packages of wipes each month to anyone who requests them.
