Town Reopens Sangerfield Hall

The Town of Sangerfield has moved its offices back into the Town Hall as of last week.


Waterville Mayor Gene Ostrander said at the Village Board meeting last week he was told by a Sangerfield council member the Town Hall was reopening as of Monday night.


The Town Clerk’s Office and Town Court had relocated to Village Hall for the past several weeks.


The move was made, along with the closure of the Sangerfield Post Office and other town offices, from the Route 12 building because of suspected mold in the building.


The town spent about $50,000 that included a deep cleaning of the entire

building and improvements to prevent water and moisture in the building.


Ostrander said the council member told him there was no mold found and there was no need to relocate the offices temporarily.


However, Sangerfield Town Supervisor Bill Fredericks said there was some mold found in a wall near the door where water got in.


Sangerfield Town Justice Kim Fancett, who was at the village meeting, said that was the first she heard that the court could go back to the Town Hall.
