Waterville Deputy Gets New Partner

The Oneida County Sheriff ’s Office announced at Mastrovito Hyundai in Yorkville the newest member of the Sheriff’s K9 Unit.


Frank Mastrovito, owner of Mastrovito Hyundai, provided a $9,000 donation that made it possible for the Sheriff’s Office to purchase the 15-month old purebred German Shepard from Shallow Creek Kennels in Pennsylvania.


He was one of three new K9’s introduced to the community.


Frank Mastrovito introduced and welcomed “Mastro” as he was led in the building by his handler – Deputy Christopher Dorr.


Dorr works out of the Waterville substation and is a Waterville Central School

graduate.


Dorr has been a member of the Sheriff ’s Office since 2020 and has been assigned to the road patrol until his recent reassignment to the K9 Unit.


Dorr and Mastro are in an active training program to become certified.


Mastro will eventually be certified in patrol work and narcotics detection.


The name “Mastro” was chosen by the Mastrovito family as it was their donation that made this purchase possible.
