Using student enrollment data from 2007, New York state says Waterville Central School District is receiving too much Foundation aid.
WCS Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Spring told the Board of Education at a special meeting last week that Waterville will lose $96,000 this year.
Originally the District thought the Foundation state aid would remain at this year’s level.
Overall, Gov. Kathy Hochul said WCS was overpaid $354,952, Spring said.
After this year the District would owe $258,885 which will be repaid by cuts in aid.
The special meeting, which lasted two hours, came before the Board’s retreat later that night.
Most of it was spent looking at various scenarios for the 2024-25 tax cap formula and implications over the next five years.
