Waterville Central School District voters approved the largest capital project in history last week.
With the 106-19 vote, a total of $18.6 million in upgrades and improvements will be made.
These include a redesigned drop-off at Memorial Park School, air conditioning added at the elementary school, and fixing drainage problems on the baseball and softball fields at the Junior-Senior High School.
Using $700,000 saved specifically for the project, plus the state’s reimbursement of 89.7 cents on the dollar, the project will not require additional taxes to cover the cost.
The next step is approval of the plans from the State Education Department.
After that, bids will go out with work starting after that.
Waterville’s last project was approved five years ago.
The next project will go up for approval in about five years as well.
