WCS Project List Almost Finished

If voters approve a Capital Project for Waterville Central School District, the work will be supervised by a Waterville graduate.

The District anticipates submitting a project of around $18 million to voters in February. At last week’s Board of Education meeting WCS Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Spring reviewed the list, including some optional projects depending on how bids come in.

She also introduced Damian Zombek, construction manager for C&S Companies based in Syracuse.

Zombek, who attended the meeting, said his company was thrilled to be chosen.

Spring defined the project as tax neutral.

Work will include significant updates at both school buildings.

Memorial Park School will get air conditioning, the lack of which in recent years has become a factor as fall and spring months become warmer.

Spring said it will be included in next year’s District budget because it needs to happen quicker than the project timeline.

A technology survey led to what upgrades will b e done.

MPS will also have renovations done to the parking lot, lockers, water supply piping, doors and floor and the drop-off circle.

Two new rooms - a Maker Space and a science room - will come about from existing space.

Board member Justin Barth called the project list for both schools no-frills.

“All the items are important for health and safety and meet the needs of the buildings,’’ he said.
