WCSD Hires Principals

To fill vacancies at Waterville Junior-Senior High School, two principals were hired last week.


One of them finally joins the district he wanted years ago, and the other returns to where his education began.


At a special meeting of the WCS Board of Education last week, Andre Paradis was hired as the secondary principal.


Paradis comes from his recent job as principal at Utica Proctor and will start at WCS shortly.


Joining the district as assistant principal to both school buildings is Kirt Broedel. Broedel also comes from the Utica City School District as an assistant principal, having worked with Paradis for the last two years.


Broedel, who will start at WCS next month, is a Waterville graduate.


He and his wife, the former Janelle Buell, and their three children live in Deansboro.


Paradis, the father of six children, said he and his family tried to find a house in the Waterville district when his children were younger.


“All our possible houses fell through,’’ he said.


The Paradis family instead moved to the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill District. His youngest child is a senior this year.


Paradis grew up in Syracuse, participating on the Nottingham High School swim team. He then attended college at North Carolina State, where he swam for the Wolfpack and majored in zoology.


He received his Master’s in science at Syracuse University and his administration degree at Touro College.


Paradis spent the first 25 years of his career in the New Hartford School District. He
